aluminium_litho_plate

Aluminium Lithographic plates are very thin aluminium plates that have been used in the printing industry.

aluminium_wheels_2

Aluminium Mag Wheels are found on sports cars and many modern vehicles. These wheels are lighter and better looking than steel wheels. Metalman pay more for wheels without the tyres. Aluminium Mag wheels are non magnetic.

aluminium-pvc-wire

Aluminium PVC Wire is aluminium wire covered in plastic insulation. These cables are typically large diameter cables from industrial applications.

copper-aluminium-radiator

Aluminium radiators are normally found in air conditioners. Both the core and fins are made from Aluminium. Where the header tank (normally plastic\steel) has been removed it is considered clean and worth more per kilogram.

aluminium-radiators-dirty

Aluminium radiators are normally found in air conditioners. Both the core and fins are made from Aluminium. Where the header tank (normally plastic\steel) is still on the radiator it is considered “dirty”\contaminated and is worth less per kilogram.

aluminium-swarf

Aluminium Swarf is the waste material produced during the manufacture of aluminium components.

aluminium_wire

Bare Aluminium wire is lighter and cheaper than copper wire and is used mostly in large electrical installations like power grids and large industrial applications.

brass-gunmetal

Gunmetal, known as “red brass” in the US, has historically been used to make canons and guns. However it can also be used to make steam and hydraulic pipeline fittings, and gears.

brass-swarf

Brass Swarf is the waste material produced in the manufacture of Brass components.

copper-bright-wire

Copper Bright wire is shiny and is free from other contaminants or corrosion. It typically comes from electric motor windings or electrical installations.

brass_clip

Brass clip is typically the left over material from the manufacture of stamped brass parts. It can also be offcuts. There must be no other materials mixed in brass clip.

copper-aluminium-radiators

Copper Aluminium Radiators are found in cars and Trucks. The internal radiator pipes are made of copper while the radiator fins are aluminium.

armatures-motors

Large electric motors contain copper armature windings and other metals.

copper-number-one

No. 1 Copper is typically copper pipes, guttering, or spouting. It can be corroded a dull greenish colour but is not painted  or contaminated by any other material.

copper-number-one-wire

No. 1 Copper Wiring corroded a dull greenish colour but is not painted  or contaminated by any other material. Used in power lines and electrical equipment.

copper-number-two

No. 2 Copper is corroded and painted copper. Typically found as copper pipes with paint on them.

copper-number-two-burnt-wire

This is copper wiring that has had it’s plastic removed as a result of a fire. Burning insulated copper wire in the open, has been banned in New Zealand since October 2004 under the Stockholm convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants.

copper-pvc-coated-wire-no-1

Copper PVC1 wiring contains atleast 75%, by weight, copper. The electrical cables are very thick and come from industrial applications. They do not have a steel armouring.

copper-pvc-coated-wire-no-2

Copper PVC2 wiring contains atleast 45%, by weight, copper. Typically these cables are used in domestic wiring.

copper-pvc-coated-wire-no-3

Copper PVC3 wiring has less than 45%, by weight, copper. Typically they are light weight, thin cables such as computer cables, network cables, and wiring looms.

copper-radiators-clean

Copper Radiators are found in cars and trucks. They are completely made from copper and not contaminated by other materials such as steel or aluminium.

armatures-motors

Large electric motors contain copper armature windings and other metals.

copper-tinned

Tinned copper is where a silver coloured coating has been applied to the outside of the copper. The tinned covering stops corrosion. It is used where the electrical properties of the material needs to be maintained. Tinned copper is commonly found in telephone wiring, and high current applications like a car battery strap.

copper-domestic

Domestic Copper is normally copper piping from a typical house. The copper pipes will have soldered joins and possibly brass fittings soldered to it. The mixture of brass and solder in the material reduces the value, as further processing has to be done to remove the soldered joins and brass fittings.

lead

Lead is a dull grey coloured metal that is soft and flexible but is also very heavy. Historically it was used for plumbing so often old houses have lead pipes which need to be removed for health reasons. Lead is still used as a roofing material and for fishing weights and wheel weights. Car batteries contain lead which are purchased intact, by Metalman. A magnet will not stick to lead.

lead-batteries

Lead acid batteries are found in cars and trucks and come in all shapes and sizes. They are purchased by weight or by size. Metalman purchase the complete battery for safe disposal.

brass_mixed

Mixed Brass is typically collected from plumbing fittings such as common water taps, gas fittings, mechanical bearings, and small brass statues.

stainless-steel-clip

Stainless Steel Clip is typically manufacturing offcuts. It is free from contamination from other materials.
